The Australian Women's Team tour England in the hot summer of 1976

The captain of the Australian Women's Cricket Team, Anne Gordon is interviewed at the Maer Ground at Exmouth CC. They are in England for the Women's Ashes which opened in Manchester. Also playing in the match are Raelee Thompson and Sharon Tredea. Gordon played in nine Test matches and eight One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and became a selector for Surrey and England and Chairwoman of England Selectors from 1992 to 1996.

Thompson captained the Australian Women's Cricket team on four occasions and scored 162 runs in her 16 tests and took 57 wickets at and average of 18.24 with a best of 5 for 33. She played 23 one-day Internationals, scoring 207 runs and taking 24 wickets at 18.66. Tredrea played in 10 Test matches and 31 ODIs appearing in the Women's World Cricket Cup in England in 1973, in India in 1978 and as vice-captain in Australia in 1988. In 1983 she was considered the fastest female bowler in the world. In 1979 Lord's staged its first women's Test match between England and Australia. In 2005, the International Women's Cricket Council became part of the International Cricket Council or ICC.
