Chocks away for a pleasure flight over sunny Southport, with cracking aerial views of Pleasureland and the Flower Show.

The Merseyside resort of Southport was clearly flying high itself when these aerial views of the area were taken. The Pleasureland amusement park had opened in 1913, and the Flower Show - still running today - had been a fixture since 1924. We don't know exactly when these unedited rushes were taken, or if the film they were made for was finished. But the footage that survives - taken on at least two cameras as we see the operators filming each other - offers a real insight into how promotional travelogues were made.
