Acle Market - Here And Now

From the collection of

East Anglian Film Archive at the University of East Anglia
The East Anglian Film Archive, the UK's first regional film archive, offers a unique record of the East of England's social and cultural history. As part of the University of East Anglia, we continue to lead moving image heritage research and inspire audience participation through community projects and events. Our collections represent a broad range of amateur and professional creativity, from 1896 to the present day.

Acle Market - Here And Now

Acle is situated roughly equidistant from Norwich to the west and the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth on the east coast of East Anglia. Acle Bridge, the only crossing over the River Bure between Wroxham and Great Yarmouth is located about one mile to the north-east of the town centre. The livestock and local farmers' market seen in the film all but closed in the 1970s, making way for a Budgens supermarket, and the nearby auction site is now a housing estate.
