ACTUALITY. Orpington sports day.
The window of a general store, showing clocks, kettles and knick-knacks. Shot
out of focus (21). Street with decorated two-wheeled carts going past (55).
The sports ground: people standing in front of a tent marked "Committee", pan
to spectators standing on the perimeter of the ground (74). A boys' sprint
race; camera position is at the finish, looking down the course. Judges taking
the names of the winners (83). A girls' sprint race (93). An older boys'
sprint race (99). A young mens' running race held on a larger track (106).
Part of an obstacle race(?) showing women putting neckties on their male
partners, who are all smoking cigarettes; the men run back (132). A bicycle
obstacle race, involving clambering over a fence, eating an apple in a bucket
and of water and riding through a wicket maze (172). A mens' running race on
the track (181). An obstacle race involving women guiding their male partners
between bottles set upon the ground, the men wearing paper bags over their
heads (198). A baby contest, CU of a woman holding a baby with a rosette on
