Shrimping off Manningtree, Essex

Filmmaker David Cleveland makes a lone journey with his 16mm camera in a rowing boat switching to his Norfolk crab boat which is moored at Manningtree, ready for a shrimping expedition. The fibreglass crab boat, which is powered by a Seagull outboard motor and sail, sets off down the Stour estuary passing Mistley Quay. Using a beam trawl he catches shrimps and the odd fish. At home, wife Christine boils the catch while daughter Katharine and two pet cats eye up the shrimps.
