Longshore Herring Festival and Fun Day

A record with sound of the Longshore Herring Festival on Hemsby Beach in September, 1992, showing the 'Blessing of the Herring' service where a prayer is given by the vicar from a fishing boat, and people tuck into herring cooked on the beach. An event which sounds as though it has a long and rich history, but in fact, is of modern origin. The "Fun Day" part of the film shows the amusement arcades, fairground, fast food outlets, and Sunday market traders and shoppers.
