Sevenoaks celebrates the bicentenary of the cricket match between the Gentlemen of Kent and Gentlemen of Sussex

This short film captures the recreation of a historic cricket match which took place between the Gentlemen of Kent and Gentlemen of Sussex at Sevenoaks Vine Cricket Club in 1734. Ladies and gentlemen dressed in fine costumes commemorate the bicentenary, watching as the players, suitably attired, master the 18th century bats. There's even a rather quaint approach to keeping the large crowd informed of the scoring.

Recreation of an 18th century cricket match in Sevenoaks played to the original rules and in period costume. Title: "In 1734 at Sevenoaks in Kent a cricket match was played between Kent and Sussex. Lord Middlesex, Lord John Sackville, etc, for Kent - and Sir William Gage etc played for Sussex"; men and women in 18th century costume; Lord Sackville arrives in coach; scorers on pitch; underarm bowling, 18th century bat and wicket. Played at The Vine, Sevenoaks' cricket pitch.
