A huge industrial operation is underway in the peaceful Lancashire countryside, in this promotional film for Ribblesdale Cement Works. Set up in 1936 to produce Portland cement - "the foundation of modern industry" - the company's investment in technology such as rotary kilns and planetary coolers enables it to produce cement for customers across the north of England and southern Scotland.
