Colin Milburn (ATV Today)

What happens when a career in professional sport comes to a dramatic end? Former cricketer Colin Milburn has decided to look for a job.

The promising career of the Northampton and England batsman Colin Milburn ended when he lost his sight in one eye after a car crash in 1969. In a melancholic piece from 1977 reporter Peter Green finds out what Milburn has been doing since. After eight years of trips to the cinema and watching television in his sparsely furnished flat he's looking for a job.

Milburn eventually found employment coaching the Oxford University team in 1979. He died from a heart attack in 1990.
