Munition Workers at Play Topical Budget 211-1

A large crowd of munitions workers take a break from the factory to watch Arsenal beat Spurs 2-0 during the First World War.

Competitive football stopped during the First World War, as players and spectators alike joined the war effort. This match between teams representing Arsenal and Tottenham features workers from London munitions factories both in the teams and on the terraces. It's unclear where this was played as Tottenham's White Hart Lane ground was itself used as a munitions factory during the war.
