Workforce of Ormerod's Mill, Great Moor Street, Bolton (1900)
Eager youngsters burst out of the gates of a Victorian cotton mill.
The lively action more than compensates for this film's grainy images and damaged nitrate stock - although the damage has a strange appeal of its own. The film was shown at an apparently rowdy Bolton New Year Fair: the Bolton Chronicle complained that the festivities “were marred by a vast amount of drunkenness, and unfortunately the gentler sex were not by any means free from the taint.”
