Gladstone's Funeral

Gladstone's Funeral

The Victorian great and good mark the passing of a political titan

The film cameras were out in force for the state funeral of William Ewart Gladstone - four-time prime minister and undisputed giant of Victorian politics. This remarkably well-preserved footage is thought to have been shot by the Fuerst Brothers company using the Lumiere cinematograph.

Note: Probably one of the Gladstone funeral films taken by Fuerst Brothers with the Lumière Cinématographe.
