Scenes on Coronation Day

This rooftop view captures large crowds, on high and at street level, waiting to see George VI's Coronation procession pass along Whitehall. A variety of marching regiments, guards, cavalry, Canadian Mounties and military bands pass below. Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin's carriage is followed by the Gold State Coach containing the new King. We also see newsreel cameras, and people with cardboard periscopes as well as huge amounts of rubbish left behind by the crowds.
