Amateur film from the Camwell collection showing steam trains and stations around Britain. The film consists of brief shots of stations and trains leaving and entering the stations, as well as train serial numbers and stationary trains in the sidings. Some of the film is also taken from onboard moving trains. The film is a compilation of visits to train stations and journeys on trains that William Camwell took in 1955. Scenes include the Great Central Railway Macclesfield line in the snow, the Macclesfield to Uttoxeter line, a Birmingham Locomotive Club visit to Cadbury, showing a miniature steam train at Bournville, the Lickey Incline trials with unbanked trains in Worchestershire in March, Delph station, the Barrow to Workington line, a Manchester Locomotive Society Shropshire railtour on 23 April, a Railway Enthusiasts Club special journey in the South Midlands on 24 April, a trip to Sutton Coldfield branch, where diesel trains commenced service in March 1956, a Railway Correspondence and Travel Society East Midlander train journey to Crewe on 8 May, a SLS Midland area special journey on 21 May, a Railway World special journey to Chesham on 22 May, a RCTS visit to Stocksbridge steel works railway in Sheffield on 10 July and a journey to northeastern and Scottish stations in July.
