The Cuckfield Silver Jubilee 1977

Cuckfield comes together to plan and celebrate the 1977 Silver Jubilee with contributions from the whole community.

A behind-the-scenes look at how the village of Cuckfield celebrated Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977. Starting with the planning committee, we see the community, including the children, at work on various displays and decorations. When the big day arrives we see, amongst other events, a medieval pageant, a fairground organ and various silly races while in the evening we have a 1940s themed band and dancing. The celebrations end with a bonfire and a salute to the Queen.
