Street Scenes and Salvation Army Meeting
Rare footage of Sally Army general William Booth.
This early film contains rare footage of the Salvation Army's famous first general William Booth. Neither the maker, date nor location have been precisely identified. Booth undertook a Great Britain-wide tour in 1904 so the film may have been taken then. The background suggests the edges of a village, and the presence of a red rampant lion flag that it may be in Scotland. Later, the film seems to switch to an urban location.
Footage likely shot in 1904 during Booth's Motor Crusade, in which he drove around the country preaching from the back of his car. Urban and Gaumont both produced films of this trip with its various stops, incl. Scottish locations Stirling and Dundee.
