Housing for the Disabled

specially designed housing, such as `mobility houses' specially designed for
wheelchair users. Illustrates the points by looking at work undertaken by the
local authorities in Alladale, Cumbria and Gwent. Looks at `adaption grants'
for private householders which enable them to alter older premises.
Assessments of the needs of the disabled (eg, showers instead of baths).
Visits the Habinteg Housing Association in Peckham Rye, which is an estate
specially built with the disabled in mind. Looks at the possibilities
available to first time (disabled) buyers through new housing developments,
the N.A.B.C. and private developers.
