Hognaston Water Supply

At Hognaston in Derbyshire in February 1983 the wintry conditions were not the main problem facing villagers. The water supply had failed at both ends of the village, which meant that not even a stand pipe could be employed. Villagers were forced to use the long abandoned village well and, with suggestions that the well water contained animal bacteria, things were going from bad to worse. Reporter Phil Bayes talks to people affected.
