Vast crowds turn out to see the Duke of York – the future King George VI – visit a home for disadvantaged boys in Hornsey in 1930.

The Grotto School For Boys was founded in Grotto Passage in Marylebone, where it taught working class boys practical skills to help them obtain work. By 1930 it had moved to The Homestead in Hornsey, which is where the Duke of York, later King George VI, visits it in front of an enthusiastic flag-waving crowd.
