Training drills and parades in Woking

Woking's Home Guard strut their stuff in this sensational mix of training film and social record - with weapons, explosions, rope bridges and lots of climbing over barbed wire.

This amazing colour record of Woking's Home Guard in action shows just what was expected of them should the invader come. We see various exercises on a firing range as well as patrols along the town's streets. Explosions come thick and fast with a variety of weapons, either fired or thrown, while men cross the Basingstoke Canal on a precarious rope bridge, much to the delight of civilian spectators. The film ends with an outdoor fete and pageant for local schoolchildren.
