The collection charts the rise of screen culture in the region and the nation and captures many aspects of life, work and creativity in the South East from the late 19th century to the present day. With a fairground carousel to entertain the children and huge bouquets for the adults, this film shows an official ceremony in the celebrated Spitalfields covered market. People pose for photographs and a man is given a huge hand of bananas. The visitors, in Sixties fashions, continue to mingle and pose in front of large colourful displays of fruit and vegetables.
