Ystumcegid Farm, Cricieth

Ion Trant, in his capacity as creator of the Country Close-Up series for children (BBC TV 1956-62), visits the Davies family at Ystumcegid farm, near Cricieth. Mrs Davies demonstrates the art of churning milk in a wooden barrel, producing soft, fluffy pats of butter in the dairy. Her husband and daughters drench the lambs and gather the mountain ewes so they can be driven through an antiseptic foot bath. Anne feeds the pigs and chickens, Helen bottle-feeds a lamb.
