None to Bless

Moving, bitter documentary showing the harsh reality of life for London's working class senior citizens in impoverished areas.

This student film by Roger Moorey, made for the London School Of Film Technique, pulls few punches in its depiction of life for London's elderly. Men and women frankly discuss their loneliness, and are filmed walking bleak streets – often past semi-demolished terraces – and at home. Mercilessly sad, but also a fascinating and valuable social document, with extraordinary interior shots as well as powerful street photography. Probably filmed in Hoxton/Shoreditch.

The life of the poor and aged in a district of London undergoing redevelopment.
