On The Set of The Shout

A cricket match with extras

This is a cricket match with a difference. Director Jerzy Skolimowski invites TV reporter John Doyle to Hartland Abbey and the set of his latest horror movie The Shout from a book by Robert Graves. The film uses local people as extras and local cricketers. Jeremy Thomas is the producer in this his second film. Alan Bates, Susannah York and John Hurt star.

Skolimowski came from a Polish tradition, the Wajda Film School. The film went to Cannes and won the Grand Prix du Jury or Special Jury Prize considered second to the Palme D'Or in a tie with Bye Bye Monkey (1978).
