A Scottish Sport in Suburban London Topical Budget 995-1

A hunter on horseback shoots down stags as Richmond Park is transformed into a scene from a Scottish glen during deer “thinning-out” season.

Deer culling still takes place every year in Richmond Park today, but one doubts it would be celebrated quite so brazenly as on this newsreel, which features a single horsebound rider stalking and shooting at terrified stags and doe at a foggy Richmond Park. Somewhat alarming by today's standards, it's undoubtedly dramatic, as a scene from the Scottish glens is played out in the London suburbs.
