The Box
Established in 1992, the South West Film & Television Archive collection spans from 1893 to the present day containing more than 250,000 items. Formed from a variety of depositors, including broadcast news and programmes material from the Westward and TSW archive. In 2018 the archive collection transferred to The Box in Plymouth.

Baby Season at Paignton Zoo - meet the new arrivals

Staff at Paignton Zoo have been kept busy this spring during birthing season., A lioness, ostriches, a porcupine and a fawn are some of the baby miracles. Originally known as Torbay Zoological Gardens, founded in 1923 by Herbert Whitley, Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is part of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust (WWCT) set up at the time of Herbert's death in 1955.

Paignton Zoo is run as a charity and is a place of conservation, research and education with over 2,000 animals and 1,500 species of plant. Originally known as Torbay Zoological Gardens, founded in 1923 by Herbert Whitley, Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is part of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust (WWCT) set up at the time of Herbert's death in 1955. The Zoo is a founding member of the International Zoo Educators' Association (IZE) in 1972. The first newsletter was edited by Jan Hatley the head of education at Paignton Zoo in 1976, published in 1977.
