Launch of HMS Resolution Submarine

The launch of the Royal Navy's first Resolution-class ballistic missile submarine is a prestigious occasion, and the crowds turn out at the Vickers Armstrong shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness on 15th September 1966. The submarine is not the only draw, however, as the visitors are equally keen to see Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who meets company staff before launching the vessel down the slipway.
