The River Teme

The Teme, rising in Cilfaesty Hill, Powys, offers interesting navigational challenges for members of Manchester Canoe Club.

Members of Manchester Canoe Club tackle the navigational challenges of the Teme, which rises in Cilfaesty Hill, near Dolfor, Powys, reaching the Severn in Worcestershire via Knighton and Ludlow. They canoe over rapids, wade through shallow but rock filled water, and carry the canoes through a field to avoid a large weir. Their craft are foldable for easy transportation and the wooden frames, with canvas coverings, are seen being assembled on the river bank.

The River Teme was designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest [SSSI] in 1996.
