Paper Boat

Prize-winning amateur film about the fleeting affair between a housewife and a young man on a summer day.

A leisurely afternoon on the river forms the backdrop to a fleeting affair between a housewife and a young man irresistibly drawn to each other, in this amateur take on Brief Encounter. Technically well-executed and making use of a large range of camera tricks, it's a promising debut short and was crowned one of Amateur Cine World's ten best films of 1949.

While her husband is out fishing, a woman befriends a man who rescues her young son who is drifting away from shore on a boat. They have a brief affair which comes to an abrupt end when he rejoins his friends and she goes back to her husband.
