Origami [09/04/70] (Origami)
Learn the art of Origami!
Way before YouTube was the go-to for crafting tutorial videos people had television programmes. One of which was Origami, a ten minute children’s television programme introducing viewers to the wonders of paper folding. It was originally produced by Yorkshire Television and broadcast on ITV, running from 1969 to 1971.
Origami is presented by magician Robert Harbin who shows viewers how to make the paper creations step by step. It is intended that the audience have paper ready to follow him and assistant Me Me Lay. The instructions move at a brisk pace which is surprising as at the time of broadcast viewers didn’t have the luxury of pausing live television. In this episode Harbin creates a crane bird, a miniature table and a lotus flower.
So grab a piece of paper and follow along, it’s more difficult that it looks!
