Victorian Fair - Holywell, 1984

The streets of Holywell, Flintshire, are given over to stalls and stocks, a hog roast and competitive barrel rolling. Judo demonstrations and folk dancing take place in the park. The costumes include a Welsh tweed cape of modern origin but Victoria would probably have loved it! Filmed by Charles William Staniforth (d. 2010), the film closes with shots of his garden, tended by his green-fingered wife Catherine (d.2012), who worked at the Courtaulds factory, Greenfield.
