Westminster Hospital

Westminster Hospital needs your support!

"The ceaseless activities of the modern hospital" as carried out at Westminster Hospital are on show in this passionate fundraising appeal film. Advances in medical care since the days of quack apothecaries during the reign of George IV are vividly illustrated. There are also plentiful glimpses of the hospital's "highly efficient service" in action, ranging from administering anaesthetic to an adult patient, to giving "sunbaths" to babies. For those with back muscles in need of improvement, check out the Pilates-style "system of Pulley exercises" - a spectacle indeed!

Westminster Hospital was founded in 1719, close to Westminster Abbey. It moved to nearby Horseferry Road in 1939, and in 1994 it was incorporated into the new Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Fulham Road.
