Cromer Fete and Lifeboat Launching

Arthur Gowing, a Cromer resident, filmed many local events in the late 1930s in the town on 8mm film. In 1939, very shortly after the the outbreak of World War II, showing that despite war life continues, this amateur film reel captures the community in Cromer at a fete, where the fire service hold a demonstration with the help of a clown! Also captured is the gathering of crowds on the beach for the launch of Cromer Lifeboat No. 1.
