Boys' Brigade Inspection at Yorkhill, Glasgow (1906)

Young Boys' Brigaders take part in the organisation's first annual pageant in Edwardian Glasgow.

Founded by William Alexander Smith in Glasgow in 1883 - in the wake of the First Boer War of 1880-81 - the Boys' Brigade was a Christian organisation intended to bring discipline and moral values to urban working-class youth. This film, one of the longest in the Mitchell & Kenyon collection, records the Brigade's first annual inspection, showcasing drills, parades and pageantry.
