Army Economy Topical Budget 273-1

Soldiers show off a fine crop of sprouts, grown at the Army Service Corps depot at Osterley Park in Hounslow.

Hounslow's Osterley Park stately home was used to train drivers for the Army Service Corps during the First World War, but here we see another use – growing vegetables on waste ground for soldiers' meals. Men are shown hoeing land, before a rich crop of what appear to be sprouts is held up for the admiration of viewers.
