Artisans' Golf Championship Topical Budget 681-1

Railway porter, golfer and local celebrity, Mr Stevens of Surbiton, shows the Topical Budget team how to address a ball and load a luggage carriage.

Described as “the famous railway porter golfer of Surbiton”, this film shows Mr Stevens giving the ball a whack, before we see him at his day job at Surbiton station. Painful puns accompany footage of Stevens loading luggage and milk churns on the platform. According to a newspaper account of the day, “Mr Stevens… has achieved widespread celebrity among the first-class passengers by reason of his golfing prowess.”
