Essex beat Yorkshire - Benson & Hedges Cup Semi-final 1979


The lads done good! Captain Keith Fletcher is overjoyed as Essex beat Yorkshire, making it through to the Benson & Hedges Cup final at Lord's.

It's the Benson & Hedges Cup semi-final match between two county teams Essex and Yorkshire in 1979, and Essex captain Keith Fletcher is close to tears, overcome with emotion as his team wins by 3 wickets, allowing Essex a place in the final at Lord's in two weeks time. Anglia Television reports with all the action from Essex's home ground in Chelmsford. We also hear from Player of the Match Keith Pont. Gerry Harrison reports for Anglia TV.

Essex went on to play Surrey in the final at Lord's Cricket Ground in London on 21st July 1979. Essex won by 35 runs taking the Benson & Hedges Cup Final title in 1979. Player of the match was Graham Gooch.
