Tall Ships at Erith

Lose all sense of time as Tall ships, dinosaurs and Spitfires make for a temporally confusing trip through South London.

An amateur record of historical recreation in South London. Panoramas taken just off Erith High Street – note Erith Playhouse in the foreground - capture a tall ship flotilla on the River Thames. This is followed by an outing to the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs, which was the first ever attempt to recreate the prehistoric creatures to scale. The film closes with a Spitfire flyby.

This film is from the collection of Bexley Local Studies and Archives, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
